Whether you already have a job or you are a student, you always have time to start a little side hustle to make more money. However, the internet is full of side hustle ideas that you may feel overwhelmed. The choice may not be an easy one. And, if you make the wrong choice at first, you may lose your will to keep going forward.
There is a solution to that. I have in this article 5 side hustle ideas that you can start now and slowly you can make them a primary source of income even.
I have created a video discussing how to make money with these side hustle ideas. Watch it below, and don’t forget to subscribe to my channel for more awesome content!
1 – Affiliate marketing (ClickBank, AmazonAssociates)
I preach Affiliate Marketing whenever I talk about making money online because that is actually how I make my income. The concept of Affiliate marketing is quite easy. You only need to know how to perfectly promote someone’s product.
It can be a physical product that they may want to use in real life, or it could be an informational product like an ebook or an online course.
The best thing about Affiliate marketing is that you don’t need to worry about creating or setting up anything to receive money or refund it.
You are basically a middle person between someone who has a great product and your audience that needs it.
Working as an affiliate marketer as a side hustle has been the forte of many people. They can come from work, check out the new products released and share them with their followers using their affiliate links.
To maximize your profits, you should work with marketers offering a high commission per sale. Most of the time, it won’t be more than 20%.
It used to be that you needed a website to make money from affiliate marketing. It is not the case anymore. I explain that in this article here.
2 – Online Surveys
This method is one the best ways to make money online if you are just starting out. Granted, you won’t become rich from answering surveys online. However, if you need to have an initiation to earning an online income, then these surveys are a good place to start.
You can literally take these surveys wherever you are. If you are at work and it’s a slow day, you can take a couple of them. Maybe you’re watching TV, and you have no interest in watching the ads, answer a few surveys.
I personally started taking online surveys when I needed to check how making money online works, and it was a successful side hustle. I may have only earned about $40 for the first check, but that was enough for me to realize there is some money I can earn online.
If you are like me and you want an easy side hustle, then you can read my article about how to make money by answering online surveys here. (You can even answer surveys on your phone!)
3 – Blogging
I started blogging as a side hustle way back. In fact, I never actually gotten to focus on maximizing my profits from this method until recently. I realized that my dog niche blog is making me money without me putting any good work on it.
That’s where I figured out that spending a little more time on blogging can double my income. And the same can go for you.
Blogging as a side hustle is more work than the previous two methods. It requires you to put the work to create content and promote it to the right audience using the right content marketing techniques.
However, once your blog starts getting some traffic and visitors turn into leads and sales, you can ease the workload and focus on finding more ways to monetize your blog.
You can use affiliate marketing, Adsense, and other monetization methods to maximize your earnings from blogging.
There are actually many full-time bloggers, and they are increasing every day. So, just like them, blogging can be a side hustle for now and later turn into a full-time, 6-figure career.
For more on getting started, check out my free 5 day blogging and traffic primer course. I also have my premium, more advanced Blogging and Traffic Masterclass if you’re really serious. (Another way to make things go much faster is to get personal help of someone who has done it before.
(…Another option is to have someone make your blog for you.)
4 – Selling on eBay and/or Etsy
This is the least online based side hustle on the list, but it is still an online side hustle idea (technically). It requires that you have something physical to sell the world. There are many examples of individuals on eBay selling things they don’t need. And Etsy is basically the go-to online shopping store for homemade products.
If you are a talented craftsperson and artist, you can create a product that may appeal to an audience online. Both eBay and Etsy allow you put product pages and have options for you to promote them online.
If your product gets the attention of their users, they will buy from you. The downside (not really) is that you need to be ready to ship products and make sure customers receive them in a healthy state.
If you’d like to avoid the hassle of selling your own products, you can work on selling products you don’t have. You can do that with the help of Dropshipping using Shopify.
5 – Online Freelancing
Finally, on today’s list of 5 online side hustle ideas is the most lucrative and popular one. Freelancing is a long-standing tradition even before the online world had been discovered. With the help of the internet, many find it possible to earn a side income using their talent.
If you like writing, then you can earn money by writing articles. If you love designing graphics, then getting hired to create a few per day is the best deal for you. You may even find a job as a virtual assistant online.
There are many ways to learn and provide a service as an online freelancer. If you love what you do (or you know how to make it profitable), there is definitely someone looking for your services.
There are many ways you can become an online freelancer, and there is no limit to the income you can generate really. As a beginner, you probably will be fighting to get your portfolio growing. You can start by using platforms like Upwork and Fiverr to get in front of clients.
As you grow, you can use your own blog and social media to get more recurrent clients.
As you can see, to make money online is relatively simple and you only need to give a few hours of your time to get started. These side hustle ideas have made it possible for me to earn a steady income before I decided to quit my job. You can use them to follow the same path to success.
