Using SEO To Increase Website Traffic

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is how your blog will get the most traffic from search engines. That means when you optimize your blog for search engines, you allow yourself to be found by the millions of search engine users who may be looking for something you have already written a blog post about.

There are many aspects to SEO but the focus today will be about keywords.

What Are Keywords?

Keywords are phrases that a searcher may enter into Google to find content relevant to his or her query. It is the most likely phrase they will write as they request information from the search engines.

As a blogger, you need to know which keywords are used in your niche, which ones are relevant to each post, and which one is most likely to rank for.

How to Use Keywords to Increase Website Traffic

Before you decide which keyword to work on, you need to find the relevant keywords that could be of interest to you.

This is an important step as it allows you to have a long list of possible keywords to work on for weeks and months.

Step 1: Use Keyword Shitter

To find the keywords that you may be able to rank for, you should use KeywordShitter.com

This is an amazing tool despite its name.

All you have to do is write down the general theme of your article, and you will see hundreds of related keywords to choose from.

Protip: When using KeywordShitter, you should also use Keywords Everywhere Chrome Extension. It gives you a few information on the number of monthly searches for each keyword that KeywordShitter shows you. This is important in the first part of the keyword selection process.

Step 2: Use Ahrefs & KeywordFinder

After you have selected a good number of relevant keywords, you can either decide to work on all of them or use another way to filter them out.

Ahrefs & KeywordFinder are premium tools that you can use for filtering out the good keywords from the very competitive ones.

Ahrefs is slightly more expensive as it is not just used for keywords, but for all SEO purposes. KeywordFinder is almost strictly for finding keywords.

When you use these tools, you can find even more keywords. They also allow you to check the level of difficulty to rank for them as well as the possible traffic per month for each of these keywords.

Here is an article on how to use Ahrefs to find the best keywords.

Step 3: Write Your Articles

Now that you have the keywords you want to rank for, you should write content that targets these keywords. It is recommended to keep the content between 500 and 1500 words.

If you don’t have the time to write your own articles, you can outsource them using iWriter or Upwork. Many qualified content writers can do the job for you.

Just specify your needs and clarify that you want them optimized for a particular keyword.

Step 4: Optimize Your Content Using Yoast Plugin

An important aspect of search engine optimization is On-page SEO. It means to optimize your content so that both search engines and blog visitors can find it interesting and authentic.

After you receive your content, you can go ahead to your WordPress Dashboard and add it as a draft. (If you are not using WordPress, I highly recommend you do so. In fact, here is an article on how to build a blog in less than 30 minutes.)

You can install the Yoast Plugin, and it will give you suggestions and recommendations to enhance both the SEO and readability of your article.

Note: While you should try to take all recommendations into consideration, remember than Yoast is just an algorithm. If a recommendation does not fit with your needs, it is okay to ignore it.

Using Pinterest To Increase Your Website Traffic

After you have published and optimized the content on your website, you should repurpose it for many other platforms. Pinterest should be at the top of your list.

This visual search engine allows you to reach millions of users just by following a few simple steps.

Step 5: Create a Pinterest Image for Your Post

Once your blog post is published, you should make a Pinterest image for it so that you can share it on Pinterest.

You can either use the services of the graphic designers on Fiverr (sometimes can be as low as $2 per graphic) or make one by yourself using Canva.

Whichever method you choose, you need to make sure your images are relevant to the blog post, have your logo and the title of the article. These graphics need to be as attractive as possible as they are what will grab the attention of Pinterest users.

Step 6: Optimize Your Pinterest Pins

Pinterest can help you increase your website traffic because it has a large user base (200 million active monthly users). These people use Pinterest by searching for keywords and picking the pins they like.

As a Pinterest user, you can edit your pin’s description. You should write a good description of your article, mentioning the keywords you are trying to rank for at least once. You can also use keywords in hashtags, but don’t get spammy.

Your pin’s description should be read by both users and algorithms.

Step 7: Publish to Group Boards

Group boards are the communities of Pinterest. There are thousands of users on many different boards. You can create your own board and invite other users to pin in your board, and you can ask to join other Pinterest boards relevant to your niche.

Once you are accepted, you can start pinning your articles and the board followers will visit your blog.

These are the best ways two and easy ways to increase website traffic even when you are just a beginner. As soon as you select the right keywords to target, you will see your website traffic slowly rise to the top.
